Frugaldom involves a simple lifestyle in partnership with a degree of self-sufficiency. It's not just about gardening, it's about earning, spending, budgeting, bargain hunting and enjoying life. Talk about it, chat with friends, swap hints, tips and recipes, see what's available to buy, sell and trade. You might even discover you have the makings of a 'Frugaleur'. Could you be a frugal entrepreneur?

Frugaldom is a home based frugal living project. It's an attempt to live a simple, self sufficientish lifestyle growing fruit & veg and rearing some poultry, game and waterfowl. At the same time, we are generating a self-sustaining income from home. Forging friendships, creating a network of like-minded individuals and exchanging help and support to all concerned without undue worry about cold, hard cash is what it's all about. We do live in a consumer driven society but it's also one of those hen and egg situations. If we want something, we're made to think that we need it and, therefore, must have it now. Easy credit is followed by the potential hazard of accruing debt. Businesses are both meeting and creating demand whilst manipulating wants into false needs. This then increases demand and tempts many more into debt. But consumerism also creates global employment opportunities, 'niche markets', entrepreneurs and the opportunity for further developments, both good and bad. The money carousel just keeps on turning. We simply got off that glossy, carved hobby horse, chopped it up and shared it out for firewood! Now that's what I call the makings of a frugal entrepreneur, from hereonin to be known as a 'frugaleur'. Join us in the Frugaldom forums to find out more.
